Inspired by the African Baobab, the Tree of Life, this outpatient geriatric and community center will serve as a vibrant hub for health, education, and connection. Reflecting the Baobab’s symbolism of resilience and interconnectedness, the design emphasizes holistic well-being across all life stages—especially pregnancy, premenopause, and menopause—while welcoming all ages and backgrounds. Featuring educational spaces, a community kitchen, and childcare facilities, the center will nurture belonging, growth, and health equity through organic forms, natural materials, and inclusive design

Floorplan

This floor plan integrates an outpatient care clinic with a vibrant community center to support wellness across generations. Inspired by the African Baobab tree—symbolizing connection and resilience—the design centers around a circular atrium that serves as a communal heart, linking health services, educational spaces, and gathering areas.

Open, organic circulation encourages connection between healthcare, learning, and social engagement—reflecting a holistic approach to wellness for Charlottesville’s diverse community.
